|Watauga Elementary School is Named One of the Best Schools in the Nation||10-11-2016||
U. S. Secretary of Education John B. King, Jr., announced on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 that Watauga Elementary School has been named a 2016 National Blue Ribbon School. Watauga Elementary School is one among 279 public and 59 private schools receiving this honor.

Second graders at AES enjoyed an afternoon of learning about some special Community Helpers. Washington County’s own Deputy Nichols, along with an EMT crew, came to let the students explore the police car and ambulances.

Mrs. Clarke and Mrs. Justus' Pre-K classrooms conducted two S.T.E.M. experiments on Johnny Appleseed Day. Our students learned what keeps apples freshest the longest after soaking the apple slices in vinegar, club soda, and honey water for 30 minutes.

Greendale’s News Team has taken on Green Screen technology in their morning broadcast. Green Screen allows students to broadcast in front of a green screen and place computer images or photos in the background when broadcast.
|NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING||10-04-2016||
The Washington County SPECIAL EDUCATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE meets four times a year. Meetings are open to the public. The advisory committee solicits viewpoints and suggestions from parents of students with disabilities and other interested persons for consideration. A meeting will be held on Tuesday October 11, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. The meeting will be held in the top floor conference room at the Annex building.

|Patrick Henry AP Chemistry Students Extract Copper||10-03-2016||
Students in Mrs. Woosley’s AP chemistry class conducted a single replacement reaction experiment. In the lab, students removed the water from a mass of copper (II) chloride dihydrate, made a solution of the resultant anhydrous solid, and displaced the copper from solution using aluminum metal.
