|NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING||10-04-2016||
The Washington County SPECIAL EDUCATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE meets four times a year. Meetings are open to the public. The advisory committee solicits viewpoints and suggestions from parents of students with disabilities and other interested persons for consideration. A meeting will be held on Tuesday October 11, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. The meeting will be held in the top floor conference room at the Annex building.

Three GSMS students received multiple honors at the Washington County Fair this year.
|Patrick Henry AP Chemistry Students Extract Copper||10-03-2016||
Students in Mrs. Woosley’s AP chemistry class conducted a single replacement reaction experiment. In the lab, students removed the water from a mass of copper (II) chloride dihydrate, made a solution of the resultant anhydrous solid, and displaced the copper from solution using aluminum metal.

Greendale Elementary fourth grade students had an opportunity to step back in time to truly appreciate the lifestyles of early American settlers as they toured the Muster Grounds, in Abingdon, Virginia.

These first few weeks of school have been filled with LOTS of "Super Learning" for the new Kindergarten students at High Point! They have jumped right into learning the alphabet letters and sounds by leaps and bounds.

Third graders at Valley Institute Elementary have been working really hard! Students were given an assignment to create a name for a special new drink. They were then asked to design their own label for this brand new drink.

Student Advisory is an important part of the WMS curriculum. During the first meeting of the school year the students met in groups with a faculty member to discuss the Wallace Middle School Trojan Creed.

High Point Elementary’s second grade students got the 2016-2017 school year off to a great start! WCYB’s meteorologist, Chris Michaels came to speak to the children about all things weather-related.
|Holston Choir Students Make 2016 Highlands Honors Choir||09-22-2016||
Auditions were held on Monday, September 12th at John Battle High School for the Highlands Honors Choir. The honors choir---formerly known as the All-County Chorus---was made up of a select group of singers chosen from the county’s four high schools. Fifteen HHS students auditioned and twelve made the cut as choir members or alternates.
