Peyton G. has demonstrated that it is possible to be an outstanding student and athlete. He set the standard for local high school golfers this year by claiming an individual conference title while leading the Holston Cavaliers Golf Team to their third straight Crooked Road Conference Championship and the regional tournament.
|DMS Cafeteria Celebrates National School Breakfast Week!||05-21-2015||
Since research shows that students perform better academically if they eat a healthy breakfast, the Damascus Middle School cafeteria staff encouraged students to “make the grade with school breakfast” during National School Breakfast Week, March 2-6. With two new options on the breakfast line plus an opportunity to win prizes throughout the week, eating breakfast was very tempting!

Sadly, a High Point fifth grade student and family lost their home and all of their belongings in a fire. The fifth grade students wanted to help out the family. They knew that whatever was done had to be done quickly. The students brainstormed and came up with an amazing fundraiser!

On Thursday evening, April 9, Kindergarten classes at Watauga Elementary presented their first Physical Education PTA program. The students showcased dances to songs like "Everybody Dance Now" and "You've got a Friend in Me" from Toy Story.

The Abingdon High School Art Portfolio Club created portraits of children and teens at various orphanages in India. Upon completion, the students sent the finished projects to the young people in India.
|DMS Celebrates Reading and Writing in Honor of Dr. Seuss!||05-20-2015||
On Monday, March 2, Damascus Middle School began our celebration of Dr. Seuss’s birthday with a reading of his book There’s a Wocket in my Pocket by news crew member Jenna Greene on the DMS morning news show. Students in Mrs. Blackburn’s seventh-grade English classes continued the celebration, as each student worked to complete his/her children’s book.

The John S. Battle Class of 1965 is planning their 50 year reunion on July 11, 2015. The planning committee visited John Battle’s campus on May 5, 2015 to plant a tree and place a monument in memory and honor of all their fellow classmates.

High Point Elementary was busy on Friday, May 1, 2015. The students in Mrs. Doane's first grade class were hard at work preparing and demonstrating their understanding of fractions.

Recently, Watauga's GATE students constructed rockets that they were able to launch. Bell Helicopter Engineer, Lewis Neal, and Watauga's own, Mrs. Neal, helped students learn more about engineering and how that design will greatly alter the performance of helicopters, planes, missiles, and rockets.
|Wallace Middle School Students Release Trout||05-19-2015||
Wallace Middle School GATE and FFA students traveled to the weir dam below the South Holston Dam to release the trout they raised during their participation in the Trout in the Classroom Program. Again this year at WMS, Trout in the Classroom was a joint effort between WMS GATE students and FFA students.
