|John S. Battle Students Attend All State Band Event||05-01-2015||
During the weekend of April 10, Jesse H. & Brooke M. participated in the 2015 Virginia All State Band event held at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia. They earned placement in the coveted ensemble through qualification auditions at the district level and then rigorous auditions state-wide held at James Madison University.
|WMS GATE Students Create Animal Tracks||05-01-2015||
Gate students at Wallace Middle School are on a year-long ecological quest to find out everything they can about the local creatures and environments in which they live. Wallace Middle School has partnered with Mandy Fletcher, Educational Specialist, who works for the Holston River Soil and Water Conservation District in this endeavor.

|Damascus Middle School Students Present Christmas Concert||04-30-2015||
Members of the Damascus Middle School band and chorus entertained their audience with the annual Christmas concert on Thursday, December 11 at Holston High School. The concert began with the sixth-grade band, directed by Mr. Bob Ballengee and Mr. Uley Daniels, playing “Jingle Bells” and a medley of familiar Christmas songs.
|Abingdon High School Wrestler, Blake R., Heading to Ferrum College||04-30-2015||
Blake R., an Abingdon High School Falcon senior wrestler, signed on Monday, April 20, to continue his collegiate wrestling career with Ferrum College. As a senior, competing in the 160-lb. weight class, Blake finished with an overall record of 45-7, was Conference 32 Champion, Region 3A West Champion, and finished 3rd in the VHSL 3A state meet.

Third graders in Mrs. Lutzo’s class at Greendale Elementary are working together in small groups to research an important person in history. After choosing their historical figure, the groups researched facts that highlighted important biographical information.

The 9th Annual Virginia History Bowl was held at Watauga Elementary on March 29, 2015. Four fourth grade teams competed for a chance to represent our school at the Washington County 4-H History Bowl.
