|Two Meadowview Elementary Students Win Gymnastics Awards||03-10-2015||
MES is proud to announce the achievements of two students. Addie H. and Maisie K. both had an outstanding gymnastics meet at the Rock Star Invitational held on Sunday in Blacksburg, VA. Competing for Mountain Empire Gymnastics at the Bronze Level, Maisie scored a 38.925 All-Around, which was first place, not only in her age division, but among ALL Bronze-Level competitors! Maisie also placed first in each event including the Vault, Bars, Beam, and Floor Exercise.
|DMS Students Selected for All-County Band!||03-10-2015||
On Monday, December 1, students from across the county auditioned for the All-County Band at Patrick Henry High School. Auditions consist of playing snare, mallets, and timpani for percussion and scales and sight-reading for all other instruments.
|JSBHS Junior Accepted into the Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars Program||03-09-2015||
Kaitlin I., a John S. Battle junior, has been selected to participate in the Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars Program. VASTS is a program open to qualified high school juniors statewide and offers an exploration-themed, online course based on the exciting work of NASA.

|First Graders at Greendale Have a Bubbling Good Time in Science!||03-04-2015||
During our study of matter, Greendale 1st graders had the excitement of watching a glove be blown up with vinegar and baking soda. It was amazing to watch the glove suddenly take on a life of its own as a result of the gas being produced from the reaction of the vinegar and baking soda. That wasn’t the most exciting part of our experiments.
