Congratulations to Brad S. and the John S. Battle Cross-Country Team!

The John S. Battle Cross-Country team had a great season this past fall! The Girls’ team finished an outstanding second place in the Conference meet and fourth in the Region meet to advance to the State meet at Great Meadow in Warrenton, Virginia. Elissa T., Emily W., and Maggie M. earned All-Conference honors.
The Boys’ team finished a strong third in the Conference meet and fifth in the Region meet to advance to the State meet. Brad S., Baxter M., and Jacob M. earned All-Conference honors with Brad S. winning the Conference, Region, and State meets!!! Brad won all of the races that he competed in locally – the Bristol Cross, Randy Smith Classic, Abingdon Invitational, Run for the Hills, Giles Invitational, Lebanon Invitational, and he went on to compete well in races that are known across the country. He placed 3rd out of 258 runners at Knights Crossing hosted by Cave Spring High School in Salem, Virginia. He placed 10th out of 580 runners at the Trinity/Valkyrie Invitational in Louisville, Kentucky. Brad ran in the Nike Cross Nationals Southeast Regional meet in Cary, NC to try to advance to the Nike Nationals Meet. He came close both years that he competed in this. Congratulations to all of these runners on an outstanding season!!! You are AWESOME!!!
