CTE: CISCO Student Nicolas O. Earns Bronze at State SkillsUSA!

Nicolas O., a senior at the Washington County Career and Technical Education Center and a second year CISCO Networking Academy student placed third in Technical Computer Applications at the Virginia SkillsUSA State Leadership Conference and Skills Championships held April 16th in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Contestants were expected to demonstrate installation, configuration, and use of Windows, Mac OSX and Linux Professional Operating Systems. Demonstrated proficiency with one or more integrated office suite packages including email, word processing, spreadsheet applications, database applications, web page development, money management applications, presentations applications, and internet browser applications was also required. The utilization of instant messaging, collaboration, and social networking software was integrated during the contest. Contestants were expected to perform in teams while exhibiting individual technical skills. The contest included an oral presentation-- establishing the student's ability to communicate with others, a hands-on skills demonstration, and a one hour time-restricted written examination. Congratulations Nicolas!
