Damascus Middle School Students Visit Highland Dairy Farm
Post date:
Wed, October 29, 2014
On Friday, October 3, Damascus Middle School sixth-graders traveled to Highland Dairy Farm in Glade Spring as part of the Holston River Soil and Water Conservation District’s Farm Field Days.
The students rotated through stations, including one of the students’ favorite spots down by the creek, where they learned about the importance of watersheds and “looked for little critters,” according to Grayson S. Other favorite activities on the farm were a trip through the barn where the calves were housed and the jeopardy game that quizzed the students on their conservation knowledge! In spite of a little rain, something farmers have to contend with regularly, the students enjoyed being outside on the farm, while learning about conservation of our area’s natural resources!
