Pythagorean Turkeys at Wallace Middle School

Two female students are making turkeys in math class.Students at Wallace Middle School show off their mathematical skills to create Pythagorean turkeys.  Each student completed a set of feathers, each containing a math problem requiring use of the Pythagorean Theorem for right triangles.

After solving the problems, they had to arrange the feathers in the correct order and attach them for a neat art project.  The next day, the students completed a Turkey Trot, where they applied their skills with the Pythagorean Theorem.  The students used a coordinate graph and the Pythagorean Theorem to measure distances between two locations on a map. Special thanks to Dr. Chad Wallace for assisting the class with the turkey project.  We enjoyed having him in the class.
